Edition of 100 Handmade Vinyl Record Covers. Part 2 The Back Side

Part two of making the Dubbel Dutch record sleeve art was a bit more simple than part one, the front side. For the backside I decided to make a two layer line drawing of clouds into a silk screen.

I find clouds to be very interesting. They are these massive playful nothings that decorate the sky. If the sky were a table the clouds would be a vase with flowers sitting on top. They have so much personality and life, which is strange because they are intangible items. I can spend days watching them inch ever so slowly along. It be cool to follow one around the world.

Anyway, I transferred the drawing onto a screen and hand pressed on each record. I decided to use a bright pink because it balances the purple of the record and the gray of the sleeve. The color also looks like candy which I felt was appropriate for the playful drawing. I thought it help the clouds feel light and youthful.

I enjoyed having all the clouds pined to my wall. I found that guest could just stare at them for long periods of time.

Lastly yet again, I have to thank my friends at Palms Out and photographer Brock Fetch for helping make this project happen.
